[Washington, D.C.] - EDGEWORKS Dance Theater (EDT) Founder and Artistic Director Helanius J. Wilkins is thrilled to annouce SPRING SIZZLE: Cool Sounds, Food, & Fun for a Cause. This annual event will bring together a diverse cross section of DC business professionals, artists, and socialites for an intimate and artful evening of live music, food, and great fun. Performance Artist Holly Bass will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. Proceeds from this event will support EDGEWORKS Dance Theater's artistic and community programming. SPRING SIZZLE is an event not to miss. Space is limited and reservations are required. Reservations can be made online at www.hjwEdgeworks.org, on the Special Events page. The evening will also include a brief community recognition ceremony, where EDT will honor and celebrate members in the African American community whose leadership has fostered positive change within the Greater Washington DC area. This year's Honorees will include President/CEO of Us Helping Us, People Into Living Inc. (UHU) Ron Simmons, Ph.D. Past Honorees: Pultizer-Prize winning journalist Clarence Page, Rev. Cedric Harman, and educator/performance artist Alvin Mayes. EDGEWORKS Dance Theater, as described in the company's mission, is dedicated to breking down stereotypes and inspiring poistive change. As a company of predominately African American males, we aim to not only set examples as positive role models, but also work to raise awareness by recognizing those who make a difference in our community.
